The role of the valve is to be responsible for inputting air into the engine and exhausting the exhaust gas after combustion. From the engine structure, it is divided into intake valve and exhaust valve. The role of the intake valve is to draw air into the engine and mix it with fuel for combustion; the role of the exhaust valve is to exhaust the exhaust gas after combustion and dissipate heat.

This article contains the following:

  • What does an exhaust valve do

  • Inlet and exhaust valve clearance

  • Material of intake and exhaust valve

1.What does an exhaust valve do

The role of the exhaust valve is to exhaust the exhaust gas after combustion and dissipate heat. The role of the intake valve is to draw air into the engine and mix it with fuel for combustion.

The role of the valve is to be responsible for inputting fuel into the engine and exhausting exhaust gas. In traditional engines, each cylinder has only one intake valve and one exhaust valve. This design structure is relatively simple, the cost is low, the maintenance is convenient, and the low-speed performance is good The disadvantage is that the power is difficult to increase, especially at high speeds, the inflation efficiency is low and the performance is weak.

2.Inlet and exhaust valve clearance

The role of the intake valve is to draw air into the engine and mix it with fuel for combustion; the role of the exhaust valve is to exhaust the exhaust gas after combustion and dissipate heat. The valve clearance is too large: after the intake and exhaust valves are opened late, the intake and exhaust time is shortened, the opening height of the valve is reduced, the normal valve phase is changed, and the engine is exhausted due to insufficient intake and exhaust. The power drop, in addition, the impact of the parts of the valve train is increased, and the wear is accelerated. The gap is too small: After the engine works, the parts are heated and expanded, and the valve is pushed open, so that the valve is not closed tightly, resulting in air leakage, power reduction, and the valve sealing surface is seriously carbonized or burned, or even the valve hits the piston. The gas distribution mechanism using hydraulic tappets does not require valve clearance.

3.Material of intake and exhaust valve

The material of the engine valve is generally composed of austenitic material.

The exhaust valve consists of three parts:

1.The large head is 21-4N austenitic material, which is treated by solid solution aging. The grain size is 6-9 grades, the hardness is above 30HRC, and it can work for about 850 ℃ for a long time.

2.The surface of the head cone surface is welded with STELLITEF cobalt-based alloy, which has strong wear resistance, corrosion resistance, impact resistance and high creep strength at high temperatures, which is critical to the life of the valve.

3. Quenching treatment of the small end, hardness 50HRCmin, effectively improve the impact pitting corrosion resistance of the small end, because the lock slot is three-slot structure, in order to deal with the problem of spin during work, quenching treatment. Hardness above 600HV, to ensure the wear resistance of the valve stem and improve the valve life.
